Default iPad manual revisions

Just curious at those airlines that are currently using iPads for company manuals (FOM, POH, MEL etc.), how do you update the manuals when revisions are released? Do you have to manually download and replace the document or is there a more streamlined process for revisions?

There is no standard yet. Different airlines with iPad EFBs have worked out different strategies, usually dependent upon the capabilities of the EFB software itself.

If you look at a product like ForeFlight, for example, which is seeing a trial rollout across Frontier's fleet right now (Frontier Airlines and ForeFlight | ForeFlight: Intelligent Apps for Pilots), they handle it all in-app. It's all automatic. Crews don't need to do anything.

Other software solutions may require more manual intervention.
