Default PT-6 question

This probably should go in the tech section but I figured it would get more traffic here.

For anyone with PT-6 knowledge, how long after a normal shut down do you need to wait to restart the engine? I have looked in the POH for the aircraft I fly but there isn't anything in there. Our company policy is 20 minutes but I am wondering if anyone has anything official so to speak on this.

I have never heard of a waiting period for restarting a turbine engine. I gave about 4,000 hours in PT-6 powered aircraft.

never heard of it. my practice is make sure (say you shut left one down on ramp then plan to restart it asap) the engine is completely shut down, dead, down, then restart it. But as far as "minimum time" etc rules, never heard of it

I have 4000 HRS in B-350 King Air

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think that there was a need for it as I remember in my navy days we shut them down and started back up without any time limit. I was just wanting to find something in writing to show my owner. I would think if there really was a need for it to cool or something, then it would say in the POH "do not start for XXX amount of time after shut down"

Spoke with a Pratt guy tonight who happens to be my father as well, no limitation on time after shutdown, just on the starters...

Plainsman, any reference for that? I agree with everyone else just looking to get in in writing to prove the point.

"no minimum time between engine shutdown and restart exists in the POH"

There are starting cycle limitations for the PT-6 but as far as a waiting period after shutdown I've never heard of that.

As for the starting cycle limitations:
Airplane battery power is:
30 seconds ON - 60 seconds OFF
30 seconds ON - 60 seconds OFF
30 seconds ON - 30 minutes OFF
Repeat above

External power is:
20 seconds ON - 120 seconds OFF
20 seconds ON - 120 seconds OFF
20 seconds ON - 60 minutes OFF
Repeat above

If it isn't stated under the limitation section in the POH then there is no limitation. You probably won't get it in writing. That's your proof.

What GJn said...no published limitations from Pratt, just aircraft specific starter engaged limitations..
