Default Who's flying the 747-8?

Aside from Lufthansa's solitary 747-8 that I see every day @ LAX, I can't say I've seen another -8 in passenger service.

Who's flying the airplane? Has it been a gigantic flop for Boeing, or have they done well with foreign orders?

Edit: never mind, I just answered my own question.

Looks like they've only got 51 orders including 29 deliveries for the pax version, and not much more than that for the cargo version. Wow...

Pretty sure Atlas has more on order. They like the airplane, it is a flop as far as being a passenger carrier.

Cargolux, at least last year, had one in Huntsville every night.

i haven't been there in a year, but I'd guess it's still the case.

I'm in Huntsville tonight and there is an Atlas bird sitting on the ramp. Might that be a -8? I don't know how to tell from the outside - if in fact you can.

Look at the back of the motors...they have the sawtooth nacelles like the Dreamliner, as a matter of fact the motors are off the Dreamliner. No winglets either

The -8 has the zig zag engine nacelles, longer upper deck & raked winglets that are slightly angled up.

upper deck is only longer on the -8i, not the -8f.

Saw a cargolux 747 at LAX a few nights ago, think it was an -8F

It probably was. For the most part all the aircraft Atlas operates for the HSV customer is -8Fs.

NCA operates 10 of them (cargo). Cathay has several, as does Korean. Great airplane to fly.
