One of those nice interpretations in the contract. I'm not sure if the old contract stated that a pilot couldn't volunteer for AR specifically. But you weren't allowed to if you tried. If you're not on reserve status for the day then you can't volunteer for airport reserve. Of course if you're a build up line holder with reserve days you can take AR on those days. But why would you want to willingly be on reserve on your days off? Life is too short

Not sure to the original question of being able to actually do it, but I guess his reasoning is this. He has a 2 day trip thats worth lets say 7 hours. He wants to drop that trip, but then do airport reserve for those 2 days. Now he gets paid more because 2 days of airport reserve pays 10 hours and he gets a bonus night at home assuming he lives in base.

I've tried this. The answer was No. I even tried trading a two day with someone who already HAD AR. They said no to that too.

rumor ive heard...pinnacle was the original winner. TSA was more competitive but UAL is unfamiliar with the ATR so theyre taking more time to look into it before making a final decision. just got that feeling.

Do you think Pinnacle is staffed enough for this? Rumor I once heard was that Pinnacle was glossed over for a contract because the current flying was understaffed. I don't know Pinnacle is going to pick up folks with mins being 1000/100 and everyone is way less. Plus Pinnacle is hiring into turbo props, not je-----ts (which every mommy and daddy funded bridge program kid KNOWS they deserve. I've heard it).
