Rumors are running rampant. I'm sure you've heard the same ones I have. Supposedly a memo coming out today to explain.

Definitely my ravorite rumours... http://www.rollogrady.com/wp-content...ac-rumours.jpg And my daily quota for useless posts is fullfilled. Great album though. |
Heard all Flight Manager's are gone. Flight and Inflight. Don't know whats going on.
|
Is this just at TSA, or does it cover Compass and GoJet too?

Just got the memo from FO...
Doesn't look like it'll affect the pilot group... mostly downsizing in management and maintenance... closing IAD overnight MX. |

I guess if they are taking out overnight MX in IAD, then I guess we are going to have to start carrying rolls of duck tape in order to fix the planes ourselves.

Just read the memo. So much for the growth that we were all hoping for. Starting to get the pre-furlough feeling again.

I work at Dulles as an A&P (For MAG). We work next to TSA mechanics. It's sad 22 mechanics (all nightshifters) lost their jobs yesterday just like that. No notices no nothing it was more like "Hand over your badge" and "don't let the door hit you on the way out". A few lucky ones are being sent to day shift. I wish all the Waterskier's all the best.
|
This doesn't really affect anyone other than the people that lost their job. I don't get what growth some of you were expecting. The recalls are just for attrition. The only growth at Trans States is at Compass and Gojet.
|
On an unrelated note: When did the last requal class start? When are those guys slated to finish with sims and OE?
And related to my original post: So, we have no flight managers anymore and a newly created assistant chief pilot? Is that about right? Shame that DH got the boot... he was a good guy IMO. |
Hey Carl, Wazup?
I'm not sure if you are referring to the guys that are already in re-qualification, or the guys that are in the process of sending in their responses with regards to the mandatory recall. For the mandatory recall guys it sounds like May will be the month for classes. Who is the new ACP? Is it DG? Take care. |

Helped me out a bunch of times... |

I was a Feb 08 new hire. Received notice last month that I was removed from seniority list because I didn't return.
|
I hear some of the guys in the pool in 08 are gettin phone calls to see if they're still interested. Sounds like the recalls are just about done
|
I am in 2008 pool. Got an email from Kathy asking if i am still intersted. TSA is hiring she said.

Can sameone please explain? They told us in our management de-briefs during recurrent that there might be some hiring this year based on the number that accepted the recalls...guessing that's what it is. |
May of '07 class got recall mandatory letters last week. They were the most senior furloughs. So the furloughs are over as soon as those guys/gals respond either way. Then the hiring would start if the numbers they're lookin for aren't met.

Pilots needed > Pilots on property. Hiring. Then...Pilots needed = Pilots on property. |

Had my "chat" with the D.O. today. He explained the mgmt layoffs were mainly costs restructuring. He wants a new contract finished. Furthermore, there is supposed to be a couple of job seminars and TSA is hiring in May. I gathered this is all from attrition so far.

:) Good to hear it. I like that word "attrition." It's got a nice ring to it.

So with the management "restructuring" does anyone think its going to make things better over there or no? Also any thoughts on if training is going to be any different than it used to be (i.e. high washout rates, etc)?
