Actually, you don't deserve more. You deserve only what you're willing to accept. Obviously, most find this "acceptable" and thus it's likely to pass. Sad to see another regional pilot group willing to take whatever scraps are thrown to them..........and forget wasting time with rationalizations. They don't put food on the table.
This is actually good for mainline pilots though. As more of these regional pilot groups accept the existance of poverty they're offered, the less likely they will be able to fill their new-hire seats in the coming years when less pilots are coming into the profession and thus the less formidable they'll be at getting additional mainline flying.
So actually, those pilots at major carriers should give a THUMB'S UP to the pilots of TSA helping to strengthen the bargaining positions of pilots at major carriers in the future.
I salute you !!!!

Is that your fault? Of course it isn't. Furloughs happen. Things like furlough, FMLA, etc isn't the fault of the pilot, however, you weren't here dealing with scheduling, broken airplanes, reduced rests, etc while on furlough. The bucket in the signing bonus distribution dealing with longevity deals with being a pilot on active status during the period that contract was amendable (Aug '06 and forward). If your hire date is August 2006 or before you're eligible for 100% of your share of that bucket - anything after that, your portion is reduced.
Yes I know it sucks, but it's the most equitable way to attempt to compensate those who were on active status through the duration of the amendable period. Unfortunately, furloughs, though on the list, were not active. Would it be fair to compensate a furloughed guy and an active guy the same?
Your right we didnt have to deal with all the above mentioned, we only had to deal with not affording to be able to pay our mortgage, feed our family, things you dont think are as important.
Not to mention the only reason we were furloughed was do to the union saving 100 eagle jobs at the cost of 100 TSA jobs

Or how about those new hires that are just finishing up class? Should they get the same amount as a guy that has been here since Sept 2006?

I'm not talking, nor was anyone else talking, about anything other than this signing bonus, and I don't think we need to sidetrack discussions on to what happens when you get furloughed. I'm sorry you weren't able find other employment while furloughed. That sucks, and I'm sorry. But this signing bonus, in my opinion, isn't meant to be an attempt to make up for time away from work.
Anyone else, or am I way off base here?

Why are people blaming the TSA MEC for TSA Management being too cheap and borrowing a/c from AMR rather than buy their own?
TSA pilots were furloughed because of a TSA business decision not the union.

Did I say getting furloughed is great? Things I don't care about? GMaFB, Gary. Getting furloughed is probably one of the worst things you'll ever have to deal with in your career, and yes, the effects of a furlough suck ass.

Here's a good scenario. What about the furloughs who deferred their recall once, then took it when it came back up to the list to them. Some of those guys deferred because they were getting paid better doing another job. Other guys went off and found better flying gigs, then decided to come back because they'd hold better schedules. They were probably here for 9 or 10 months, then furloughed for 2 years, then come back for 10 months and are like "HEY!!!! How come all these guys who were on property longer than I was here get more than I DO?!?!?!"

not a waterskier but i'm a saluki and have a lot of friends there. As much as everyone says they aren't getting everything that they wanted. compared to what you all have, and what you've been offered in the past. I'd probably vote yes. (didn't vote in poll since my vote doesn't matter)
