New hires included in that opinion.

Wow Joe DePete has his little group of defending the defenseless.

Joe DePete was asked countless times if he would continue to be a pilot.

He gave his word over and over and over that he would.

He played us all and cares only for himself. The ultimate politician.

I sat with him for 20 minutes and asked him this very question. First hand and face to face he promised to continue as a FedEx pilot and not retire.

This type of selfish and greedy behavior severely weakens the union.

Honor is something no man and give you and no man can take away.

He must resign or be recalled.

Just wow! If he lied about that......what else will he lie about? I certainly don't want someone as the MC of the national union that lies to someones face.

Seems odd that there is no provision requiring ALPA National officers to be members of an ALPA-affiliated seniority list (and yes, the LOA category would suffice b/c if your term ended or you got recalled from office, you still have a pilot position to return to). Retire and you should be done at National effective the same day as your retirement. This seems like common-sense...guess not.

And, if this story is in fact true, I hope some 2nd grader at Herndon Elementary fingerpaints his portrait for "The President's Wall." 😁

Actually, the ALPA Constitution and Bylaws (C&BL) do require that members, status reps and MEC/LEC officers who resign or retire to forfeit membership and their ALPA "volunteer" position. But, as many political organizations, the ALPA C&BL have an exemption for this requirement that applies to the President of ALPA (in this case Joe Depete). Good news is, for some I guess, Joe will be a one term President.

Gotta love all the ALPA/union haters chomping at the bit. The reason is likely the ALPA pension as it was with the past two Presidents who took LOAs from Delta.

I know 3500 guys that would have no problem doing great harm just to get some kind, any kind, of pension.
