Good luck with your career.

I suggest cutting him a little slack, since many of us went through that same "youthful arrogance" phase. By the time he obtains his ratings, a flying job, and a thousand hours or so, he'll probably grow out of it too. ;)

Martin, Martin, Martin ... how's that Instrument Rating coming along?

Knowledge is required to make sense of observations. Right now, your ability to look and understand is a little bit beneath that of a dog watching a refrigerator.

Tell me, oh great one, what does the NLRB have to do with this discussion? You haven't the slightest clue about collective bargaining at an airline, do you?

No, a company should be held to uphold its agreements. But it shouldn't be forced in to them in the first place.

Which airline agreed to their Collective Bargaining Agreement under duress? Who was forced to sign?

For the same reason you might have to wear a uniform and show up at a certain time and place -- they are conditions of employment. If you don't like the conditions, don't accept the employment.

Ever hear of railroads, Martin? Did you know that interstate commerce is conducted along railroads? Did you know that labor unrest amongst railroad employees could have a deleterious effect on interstate? Did you know that for that reason, while CBAs under the National Labor Relations Act have expiration dates, CBAs under the Railway Labor Act do not?

Silly me, of course you didn't. More on that later.

And one doesn't have to read many of your posts to recognize you're an idiot. I don't mean that as an insult; it's just an observation. I think those are allowed on APC. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're allowed, because you're been making a lot of observations about stuff about which you haven't a whit of knowledge or understanding.

I'd like to think if I were to find myself digging a hole, and I was getting deeper with each shovelful, I would have the sense to stop digging. In this case, I'm inclined to offer Martin a bigger shovel.

I guess the problem is this: You just don't know what you don't know. And, you really don't know much. What you need to do is go out and re-learn what you think you know. Make a list of what you don't know. Then go out and learn that. After you learn that, repeat the process ten more times.

Most people can recognize someone who doesn't know much, or anything at all. As is the case here. Folks just recognize you don't know anything, and even though your knowledge is lacking, that's OK, but the real problem is that your experience to fall back on is also lacking. So what we have here is a failure to communicate, and that was brought on by your inability to know what you don't know, inability to understand this hole in your knowledge base due to your lack of experience and/or maturity and moreover just a very shallow understanding of the root issues.

Art and Music are very subjective. So, if you don't recognize it for what it is, best to keep your mouth shut. Most executives at music labels aren't musicians, but they get it. Most art museum curators aren't artists, most publishers aren't authors. But, they have other areas in their professional lives that make up for that lack of experience. For, they don't know what they don't know, but they are experts in what they do know.

Striking for ALPA...I don't get it

Since I was hired, I've seen nothing but crap from ALPA: A horrible new hire presentation, a crap DAL TA, a dishonest presentation of said TA, infighting, and a general sense of ALPA leadership seeing themselves as a Politbureau with us commoners unworthy of their time. So now I'm supposed to risk my job whenever they say so???
I don't get it.

You don't strike for ALPA......you strike for yourself and your way of life..when it s necessary it becomes obvious until then don't worry about it.

First time tonight I have ever seen the master scab list. I have seen the continental list plenty though.

A few thoughts...after reading through it......

1. That baby is thurough. All historical info retained.
2. Very organized.
3. Search function works in iBooks. You can search by SSN, or even employee number. I.e. CAL 0205L
4. What's up with UAL fleet qual costs?
5. Only one noted biggimist on the list.

ALPA' not perfect. Only as good as pilots you elect. You are your brothers keeper. Management ain't your buddy, ain't your friend neither. But, love 'em or hate 'em your Union is your family. Your union wants you to have the maximum. Management wants you to be content with the minimum.

The fleet quals were offered a set pay to cross the picket line.

The f/o's were $50K and the captains were $75K.

All of them scum. Sadly there was no way to keep them at those rates forever.
