I don't think so. If you were correct, the opposite of that argument would be true. But it isn't, that's why the FAs at NWA are old hags too.
Having old FAs has more to do with political correctness (FAA not mandating certain physical standards) and the FAs not putting their money where they should and living within their means.
My father, a person who has made less than 35K a year, has a very good retirement and owns his own home. He was smart with his money and didn't waste it. In fact, when I was in high school, I was teased because my friends thought we were "rich".
I'm all for people having job protection and a decent salary. I just happen to think that DAL FAs already have that. And I think the union that you want to get in bed with, as already shown with its experience with NWA and what they have, is going to be good for the FAs or for Delta.

Considering your opinion of how well they are treated, would you be willing to de-certify your union representation?

Worked for several airlines, all majors, one foreign, most had unions, one did not; one had an in-house union. I would rather have a union any time vs none...in house are worthless. For everyone that thinks they are getting paid for their skill...you are paid what you negotiate not what your're worth. Hope the FAs are successfull.

Thank you for the support guys. I understand that we (FA's) are much more easily replaced then you guys as there are only minimal requirements to be a flight attendant.
We are here just like you guys day in and day out, we just want to make a livable wage and ensure that our job is there tomorrow.
SCOPE, SCOPE, SCOPE

You speak from a position of a little more security due in fact that you have an enforcable contract. All the 'good things' that the DAL FAs have can be changed at anytime without any input from the workgroup since they have no protections provided by a contract.

The union the DAL FAs want is the same union that had a very shaky track record at NWA. Why would they want this?
They could do better. And in fact, in many ways, DAL FAs have it better as it is. I don't see the cost benefit analysis that shows the DAL FAs will be better off with the former NWA union.
For the record, I'm not too happy with my own union. They are more interested in the fat cats than they are me, the pilot sitting at the bottom of a 12,000 seniority list. And I can assure you, I laugh everytime I hear you guys talk about job protection because there isn't. If they want to furlough me, they will.

Explain yourself, when you say DL F/As have it better. I don't think anyone was talking about job protection, but rather protection that comes from an enforceable contract....not some rules and regs that can be changed at someone's whim.

I want to say thank you to the Delta ALPA MEC for their resolution in support of the flight attendants organizing efforts.

Adolphus,
That "unskilled laborer" might just use their body to block your cockpit from a terrorist, restart your heart with an AED, or stand behind you in a picket line, but that doesn't seem to mean much to you in the 1% club. Most think of them as part of the team, and it they're stronger, YOU are stronger.
I would be proud to wear the APA pin in support for my fellow Americans, aviation workers, and Flight Attendants especially.
