Nat'l ALPA Elections
#11
Unless you are a member of the DELTA MEC, you can't vote for him (or against) as only the ALPA BOD members have a vote for the officers. The same procedure is used to elect your DAL MEC officers. Only MEC reps can vote.
You certainly should call your LEC reps and voice your opinion.

If you haven't participated in the election process, I'd encourage you to go to the BOD meeting and be a fly on the wall. You will witness more deal cutting / overall BS than you'd see on the floor in the House of Representatives. It's all about as clean as Lindsay Lohan.....

We need a change from the lifers who migrate to national office and seem to want to stay forever. We need someone with new, innovative ideas who is a problem solver and visionary leader. Scott Stratton (FedEx) has the proven leadership needed to lead ALPA. He has the experience to bring all members in the tent. A former regional (Precision), Legacy (Eastern) and now cargo (FedEx) pilot who's the right person at the right time

Do you guys see the real problem here? All these guys running for all these national positions... and we barely hear a peep out of any of them. It was hard to figure who was even running for President, let alone other positions. I mean, we dont vote, so why should they waste their breath even talking to the line guys???
I have no way to telling my rep who I would support, to help him decide who to vote for. I'm ok with trusting my elected rep to make the vote for me- but how can I tell him my opinions WHEN I DON'T GET INFO ON WHO IS RUNNING? We have all been bypassed for the back room politicking that is taking place in Florida as we speak....

The other problem I see is that this discussion is taking place on the regional forum.
Who does ALPA truly represent these days? Regional pilots or Mainline pilots?
Personally I don't believe that ALPA can in good faith represent both since when one group prospers the other group suffers. As regionals have grown exponentially over the past ten years the securiuty and careers of mainline pilots has suffered dramatically.
