Default Nat'l ALPA Elections

Hi Folks,
Couldn't help but notice, no one anywhere I could find is talking about our National MEC elections next wednesday the 13th. Thought we might want to do that. To my Knowledge Prater is running for re-elect. Other guys with their hats in the ring are Rice from United, Moak from Delta and Stratton from FedEx. I guess the fundamental question is are we happy with their performance to date? I think the guy who is worth a look is Stratton from FDX. He is their current MEC Chair, is a financial expert and was the Nat'l Ret/Ins. Chairman. He was the guy who proposed VEBA which was accepted as a standard not only within ALPA but other labor orgs. as well. I think what I like the most is he has tangible skills other than political........a welcome change IMHO............what do you think?

How about a "Regional Airline" pilot run??? Oh wait.... Anything that moves away from the garbage that has been going on is game for me...

Scott is a great guy, but he doesn't have the experience needed to be President. Paul Rice is clearly the candidate with the experience and vision to lead ALPA.

From discussions with PCL ALPA reps, I no longer support Paul Rice for ALPA Prez.

The FDX guy seems to me the best choice.

And the PCL chair is a do nothing blowhard. Gotta call it like it is there. I guess he does fit the mold for president by doing nothing and collecting money way outside what he would ever reasonably obtain as a pilot at his company (120 hours a month on CRJ 900 pay.)

6 years since amendable and counting.

I'm not so sure a FedEx guy has anything at all in common with myself. Though I have not made up my mind whom I am going to vote for......... so we'll see

Perhaps not with you personally, but all of us under the ALPA umbrella share Pay, Vacation, Work Rules, Retirement, Insurance and Scope (in no particular order) as common issues. I for one would like something other than a political animal leading the cause for my interests. JMHO

I've heard Moak blatantly lie with my own ears. I'm a Delta pilot, and I will not be voting for him.

A *lot* of people said that about your community organizing, one-Senate-term candidate for POTUS two years ago, and yet he still got elected.

How's that working out for us as a country?

While I'm sure that argument would be pro v. con depending on if people identified themselves as Rs or Ds, I think its safe to say despite a radically polarized electorate the world is still turning, the country is still functioning, and the economy is clawing its way back from the precipice it teetered on in early-mid 2009.

My point is I'm not sure electing somebody who "lacks experience" in the eyes of someone who has already picked their horse in the race means that they won't be an effective leader & steward of the organization.
