As a native Hoosier, I really hate to see this. A former high school teacher of mine that is now a state senator fought this hard but lost. Darn proud of him, but talk about an uphill battle. More setbacks for the working man

It was needed to cut the influence of public employee unions. They are out of control. Look at CA. A teacher who Sexual molested students for god knows how long. Gets his pension and health care paid for by the tax payers. I support unions in there protection of workers right. But there political ambitions have gotten out of control.

If my Indianapolis school teacher sister saw that she would take a red marker to my screen. By the way, she only made $33k last year.

And on the subject of not doing homework, the bill doesn't just cover State employees. It covers all union shops within the State. Private and public.

Unbelievably ignorant quotes from people in a supposedly unionized industry. Every Right to Work FOR LESS law passed is one more nail in the coffin of YOUR contract.

And using your rationale, FP, WE shouldn't get paid much because we only work 80 hours a month. Are you serious?

Where did I make a blanket statement about WE. the fact is teachers do not work summers holidays and weekends ... Took the job knowing well what the salary was . in this economy
We must adapt to the current economic times . you can only gobto the well so many times before the well dries up . Where I live I pay $6,500 in school taxes alone I am out of work and still have to write a check for $900 a month in total taxes . Teachers make over 100 k a year and always get a 3%raise every year
If you think thats ignorant I cannot help you so please dont use a statement about a small fraction of the labor force to cover all union jobs .Ive been a union member for over 30 years and even we took freezes and went without raises before the economy tanked . so before you go off half cocked you need to look at the big picture ! We are talking about public jobs here if the money is not there what should be done airlines are bloated with fat cats making bank do not confuse the 2 !

There are teachers in New york city charged with sex crimes who because of tenure cannot get fired One in particular is a lawyer worth millions hes collecting 100 k a year and working a desk job .You got a better plan to keep teacher salaries where they are lets hear it !

Choose between salary freeze or layoffs the choice is yours!

Sounds like you need to get a teaching credit and get one of those cushy jobs.

I guess proper spelling and punctuation would be required, so perhaps not.
