Council 5 Recall Communication
Dear Council 5 member,
Over the last several days we have reached out to LEC Chairman Glenn Johnson several times asking him to comply with Council direction and to publish a PRO-recall letter. To date he refuses to follow the council’s direction.

We, the undersigned former ALPA representatives and committee members, FULLY support the recall of ALL three Council 5 officers.
To protect your career, we urge you to vote in FAVOR of the recall of the three Council Officers. There are few times within the ALPA process when your voice is heard, and this is one of those times. If you are not “plugged in” to all the theatrics occurring with our current officers, please reach out and inquire. Standing on the sidelines will get you more of the same, and you only need to look as far as the recently proposed TA. Four years of negotiating leverage and time wasted under our current Council Officers leadership, producing a TA that was an epic failure.
Glenn, Chris, and Phil are disconnected from the membership and its needs. Multiple polls wouldn’t be necessary if leadership had been listening and advocating for us over the last five years.
Glenn voted “NO” knowing his vote was meaningless since the TA would be easily approved by the rest of the MEC. His was a no jeopardy vote, a political vote, giving him cover with our Council. After his no vote, he might have convinced us he was as angry as we are by voting to recall the Negotiating Committee, but instead he insisted they could correct their mistakes. These are the same Negotiators who said over and over at Town Hall meetings that this was “the best they could get.”
Chris voted “YES” and finally heard the pilot group’s angst over the TA, but then he doubled down on the merits of the TA in a letter to the Council. In the disastrous aftermath of the failed TA 1, Chris has never admitted he was way off the mark.
Phil has no vote on the MEC and has presented myriad reasons for his silence on the whole mess, even though he was present for the majority of the meetings and briefings that led to the dismal TA. He has become active of late, but where was he in the years leading up to this moment? We only hear from him when his job is in jeopardy.
We need to recall the entire slate and begin anew with leadership that will fight for our careers and not just be rubber stamps for misguided efforts. It is essential for all three new officers to trust each other and to be able to speak freely. It will be most effective if they can work with each other without feeling encumbered by past officers and/or their loyalties to the MEC Officers or Negotiating Committee. The three new officers must work for Council 5, for each of us.
If you have not voted, we urge you to vote in FAVOR of recall of all three officers. If you have voted you can change your vote up until September 9, at 10 a.m. ET.

So C5 Just sent out an email saying that they won’t publish any “against or for recall” letters. But they were able to put at the end of all their letters “vote against the recall”.
How tf is that fair?
the more they spew this bs, the more I want them gone.

Then they try to rationalize the blatant, BS letter Ward sent out as a "mistake." Just resign and go away.

The heatmap looked good. Details weren't released. Negotiating in public was widely admonished. The MEC and negotiators require special trust. Their job is to represent us behind closed doors, and we let them close the doors as usual. The outrage started when the TA came out and we learned what they had really been up to, not when the recall train started. The outrage intensified when they tried to sell a bad TA. The recall train is the result of the caring not the cause.
