The Captain that gives away the 2nd jumpseat is a true giver. I've sat in that 2nd jumpseat and the Captain looked as uncomfortable as I did. I couldn't thank him enough.

I breath through my nose, but I definitely don't want to sit in the dunce seat again.

I was JS'ing out of AUS to IAD on SWA and walked up to the cockpit and noticed the other JS'r waiting for the door to close. The Captain was very polite and said that he would be happy to cram forward to make sure I got on. I looked around, shook his and the FOs hand, and said thanks for the offer... but nobody should have to sit like that for 3.5 hours!

I'm 6' 4" and sat in the main with another 6' guy in the 2nd J/S on WN for 1.5hr. It was painful for me so I can just imagine how it was for the other guy. At TOC I volunteered to go "stretch my legs" in the galley and we all mutually agreed that I'd return for the final approach. I was and will be eternally grateful for the ride but never again if I can help it.
