Why do we stay down there with all its problems. The latest is pipe bombs left behind in the room of a Jihadist that left the and was picked up by the FBI in LAX.
Why don't we just stay at [a location near the training center] They'll take you where you need to go if you don't want to walk.
Of the company could buy one of the hotels from say Doubletree, not the one across the street, but the old Red Lion. And then run it as a crew hotel only. Need your UAL ID to get in, just like TK.

Try not to take these other responder literally--some trolls. If you are new, you don't know the neighborhood around TK. We, LUAL, were cautiously hopeful TK would move a couple of years ago when they were trying to decide what to do, where to go for training.
Since Stapleton closed, what, 20 years ago?? The neighborhood around TK has dramatically deteriorated. It wasn't all that good when it was open, and it has steadily gone downhill. Several years ago, we had a couple of different incidents where pilots were mugged. One in broad daylight, aa new hire, and others. One with serious injuries.
These are the reasons for the hotel vans to just go across the street, and all the warnings in the training material about your personal safety around TK. The mall and restaurants across the street are tempting to walk to, daylight is ok, don't even think about it at night.
It might make sense for UAL to buy the Double Tree, and we have owned hotels in the past, the Seaside in HNL. But they seem to not be interested. So, it's a puzzle at best. TK neighborhood is not good, airport you are a hostage, and downtown is pretty nice--but lots of homeless, and a long van ride both ways.
Ideas?

Agreed. But Ferris was a tool. It failed because he was an SOB and had no idea how to run them. UAL did make a rather large profit when they sold...don't forget Hertz.

I honestly don't know why you guys get so worked up over layover hotel info online. Anyone with half a brain and access to google can find out that info and more.

Really? You might want to look north, south and west from the Denver training facility and you might notice billions of $ of new investment and high-priced real estate. Yes, the neighborhood to the east is rough, but we have little need to go there and those incidents about which you are talking were isolated and happened over six years ago.

Isn't it the neighborhood to the west that's a little rough (behind the doubletree). I go running past TK to the east and everything is brand new. I personally know two families that have bought houses to the SE of TK. Both have young kids and one is a buddy at southwest.
