Good news!

However if he is gone in AUG then shouldn't he have RET next to his name? That should mean that another CA should have been awarded a spot.

With an OCT effective date he should be considered inactive.....

Just for the heck of it I ran the results and #2 retires in JUN, #10 retires in AUG and #11 retires in JUN.

Am I wrong in thinking 3 more CAs should have been awarded?

Yes. It doesn't work this way. I asked one of the scheduling people why they put that there and its for internal planning. Its not how many pilots are covered on THAT BID.

Remember those retirement timeframes are sometimes 6 months, so every month the same pilots keep showing up. So its possible they were already covered on a previous bid, or because of training/overstaffing they wait until a later bid.

It doesn't mean that those pilots are being replaced with this vacancy.

The last 4 bids have 371 "retirements thru xx/xx" and there is no way we have 371 retirements in 6 months. 3 of them show the exact same retirement numbers because they are all in the same quarter. So they are just showing the same retirements as they showed on the last bid.

They aren't cumulative.

Only the MIN/MAX apply for that bid.

I think the more pertinent question is "if they were replaced on a previous bid, why still show them"? I don't know. But they aren't removing them for the next bid on a 1-for-1 as they retire.

Svergin I'm not sure we are on the same page. I see what you are saying but I'm talking about the CAs awarded DCA 787, not system wide.

The old contract used to have the age 59 bypass (changed to the age 64 bypass), but I can't find similar language in the new agreement??

It's not in there. I've know guys bid something and get trained with a few months to go until retirement.

So with that said the company wants a MIN of 20 for the OCT bid month. If 3 retire by AUG won't that mean that they will only have 17 by time the bid is effective?????

What am I missing here?

Interesting that 8 CA's downgraded to FO on this bid.

🤔

I'm actually surprised that more didn't jump. There's a fair amount of "buyers remorse" in the left seat of the crap7.

Take a gander at the seniority numbers of the top third of the F/O's in the 747 / 777, and to a lesser extent - but no less revealing, the 767. It's an eye-opener.
