Mayday...no notams?
Recently a plane declared an emergency due to not having notams at the unplanned diversion airport. Maybe this is just me, but why not just ask for notams from dispatch/atc and continue. Why jam everyone up with your "emergency"?
Before you say it, yes there was time to get them, and yes ATC offered. Anyways maybe Im missing something.

How does my emergency jam you up? Genuinely curious what you mean by that.
Also, I only ever worry about one plane because I can only ever fly one plane. Common courtesy is one thing, but saying "I'm not going to declare because I don't want to inconvenience someone..." I think that's unproductive.
All that said: get the NOTAMS from dispatch and press on.

Your emergency does effect other aircraft. My point is that other aircraft have to be resequenced and most likely delayed to allow priority to be given to the emergency aircraft. If you declare for notams or a cold crew meal it will cause others to have to be resequenced, burn more fuel, etc etc.

I too only worry about one plane. Also not saying you wouldn't declare because of the effect of your action on another plane. Who cares...I have the emergency. The issue is, is this an emergency? I do not believe it is. As you pointed out just get the notams.

If you're invoking 91.3 because you didn't follow 91.103...
But that doesn't seem to be the case in the OP. "Unplanned diversion airport"
