It also depends on the fleet... In the past year, not a single requested trip drop went through because of "no coverage".

Or should we all be limited to 80hrs? If 80hrs provides X number of jobs, why not make it 70 or even 60hrs of pay as a cap?

It's been over a year since I've heard of anyone getting a VDO assignment in Dulles. I used to get one per month...but considering the current over-staffing, they've all gone away.

How common are VDOs in EWR?

I haven't been on reserve on the 777 in a while, so I don't know how often they are being used, but I doubt it is as often as it was a year or two ago. Plus the flying has changed a bit. I would get called on VDOs for PVG/PEK type stuff. That makes the add pay add up quite a bit.

Some of my buds on reserve now probably aren't doing more than 78-80hrs of credit with short calls. Then again, I know more than one that can count the number of trips they've been called for in the last 8-9 months on one hand.

Thanks; another spot where CCS isn't currently in line with the contract.


I guess about the only good way of getting extra time off is to take a COLA right now.

It really varies on the month as much as 15-16 days to as little as 12-13, I try to get commutability, soft time and deadhead some months. Kill it, some not so much. Vacation month is when you can make some real bank, even though are union is trying to kill that for us.

im not a G tard, you might be a re tard.... The unions done great with very few exceptions, like my signing bonus,and being able to make extra pay in vacation months. I'm very happy with ALPA overall, don't assume you know anything about me..
