I wonder if you hear that from employees at highly successful companies in other industries.

I'm inclined to agree with his statement.

I'm not sure of your experience/background/perspective.

But after a Ch11, furlough, mutliple displacements and concessions all while management gave themselves raises and pats on the back, well, sorry......

Watching them squander millions and millions of dollars, taking a big hit a few years back and blaming it on the extreme weather while the other 2 legacies that operate out of the SAME PLACE AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME WEATHER made profits, well, it's not my job.

It's not my job to scream "HOW HI!!!" when they say "JUMP!!!!" (We bed you to take a hit, work more for less, be more "competitive")

We show up to our jobs to the best of our abilities. If the employees are in charge of offering competitive working agreements then it's a race to the bottom. How will future contracts improve if we take the stance of it having to be competitive?

It's pretty infuriating to push 30-40 minutes late on say a SFO-EWR transcon... work hard, save gas, negotiate short cuts, provide a smooth safe ride, then arrive 15 minutes early and under burn only to be told head to the ball park and sit for an hour. Fuel saved and time recovered, all wasted. Effort, for naught.

It only takes one manager one decision to waste months of effort and hard work by the employees.

Complaining? My solution is a contract with limits that prevent the company from building onerous lines month in and out. A contract with work rules that force the company to build efficient schedules that value our time. That would include reserve as well.

Wadr, your solution is hoping someone will pick up a trip that I wish to drop or rely on the system accepting a trip drop. A system with parameters set by the company. That is the only solution available at the moment. I'm thinking years ahead.

I get it. There is a faction who's paycheck is part of their life value. To them, work rules are a hindrance. I just feel solid work rules coupled with a transparent trip trade system founded on quantifiable metrics would serve us all.

Fuel hedges and Shares to name a few.

Ahhmmm...I've lost track of the number of times that our management has told the employees, "You are just labor. I'm management. We manage the company. You just work."

Another famous quote, I think from Glenn, " if you wanted to be management, you should have gone to a better school." or something...

Ok - however that's not what the current management's mantra is. The past is the past.

Quite frankly no one gives a flip about Glenn or any other legacy baggage. A new ship has sailed and I would like to think we all want to make it successful.

Learn from the past young Padawan, or you will be doomed to repeat it...

They won't learn from the past.
