No doubt freshly bathed and lightly powdered :).

This is a story.

$130k to a fired coworker, check. United Airlines, check. This story is going to get media attention. Looks like those involved will soon be public figures whether they want to be or not. I held off cross-posting this thread and the go-fund-me link to other social media because I didn't want to basically dox the recipient of $130k+. But then GoFundMe is social media anyway so... thoughts?

How will it get media attention and will it matter?

Maybe get more people to donate? Just checked and people are indeed still contributing.

What have been the consequences for the SFO Flight Ops manager, or managers who are responsible?

Did the office person do anything illegal, or unethical that would have gotten her terminated? Does Oscar know what's going on?

If she hasn't done anything wrong, then she should be suing United for unlawful termination.... If it was a case of harassment, or similar that is an easy fight now a days. If the manager is a bully, and frequently bullies and pushes around the office staff in an aggressive manner, or is unfair with office staff, then there should be a whole host of people willing to give depositions to document the hostile work environment.

Can someone explain what exactly happened? Why she was let go? Not based on the left coast and never heard the real story.

I'm getting the impression that nobody here knows anything about "why".

I’ve heard rumors which seem insignificant.

But it shouldn’t be discussed here.

And there’s the crux, while Oscar preaches about the “New United”, at the local level in SFO: meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

The LEC has resolutions of no confidence in ops management, most pilots in the know won’t talk to the CP about anything without ALPA reps present. A line pilot incuurs risk if he/she explains to the CP that he’s seen as adversarial, ineffective, and untrustworthy.

I’m sure the CPO used HR and legal to cover himself, I doubt there was anything illegal about forcing out the most beloved staffer in ops. One thing for sure, he has lost the trust and respect of SFO pilots forever.
