Is it possible to move a scheduled DH on the front of a trip to the end? Didn’t see anything in the contract, but someone mentioned it.

I asked the same question 3 years ago. Was told that the negotiator's notes showed:

Deadhead Deviation available in three ways. Travel to:

1) The pilot's base.

2) The pilot's home of record.

3) Anywhere in the contiguous 48 states.

Ability to deviate is good for up to two days before or after the scheduled deadhead. Positive space pass is available for multi-leg deviation, even if one of the legs is the originally scheduled deadhead.

I’ve done it before. I seem to remember doing it over the phone with the scheduler. I was based in EWR at the time and picked up a trip that started with a DH to IAD and ferry back to EWR. I just drove to IAD, ferried to EWR and then used the PS back to IAD.

Yes. The differences are that the crew desk must confirm the PNR, not the PSC, and you are then bound by the commuter policy so you'll need a backup. As with any deviation, you lose your entitlement to an E+ seat and there is no middle-seat pay.

Been told by 2 different schedulers that I can’t move the DH to the end of the trip.

Call crew scheduling, tell them you want to deviate, have PNR ready. If they refuse ask to speak to a supervisor. No where in 5-D or the JIT is there any limitation to deviating the first leg of a pairing.

Also, FWIW, when you deviate, they then calculate per diem based on:

If DH was at the end of a trip: they will then use the first flight out to your base, regardless of legality. So, if you get in to IAD at 6 pm and your DH was for noon the next day, but there was a 6:10 pm flight out that same night, they show you on the 6:10 flight.

Same idea for the front of the trip, even if the new flight gets in 10 minutes prior to show

Not that big of a deal, but could cost you $40 non tax money

In this scenario OP can use it up to 2 days prior to the scheduled DH (to your assigned base) on the ID... they won't allow you to move to the end of the trip as that does not have a DH scheduled. However, you might luck out and find a scheduler who is totally clueless... so worth calling.
