Default Crew Companion & Picking up Trips?

New lineholder and have a question about picking up extra/open trips via Crew Companion for December.

I know the trade/pickup window runs every 4 hours. I have several pickup requests for completely open trips (no one trying to trade, etc.)...however, nothing was awarded. The trips are still open.

Does selecting 'carry forward into realtime trade window' affect the abiility to pick up faster? Just trying to find out the fastest way to snag open work for next month.

Thanks!

Carry forward only allows you to pick up inside the real time window so no not faster.

Go to CCS Seniority trip trading and do a “View History Change report”. Then you can click on the trip and see what status was given the last time trades ran. There may be a reason you’re not getting it. Also did you “check legality” on Crew Companion before you submitted the trades? Sometimes there is a reason the trip isn’t legal even if it’s not obvious.

Best of luck but that’s the starting points I’d go with.

You can also see the Trade History/Status in Crew Companion. My trades, click on the trade and select Trade Status.

There's also an option to check a trade's legality on the pickup screen before you save it, just for future reference.

If its not a trade for the exact same days, then it may never be awarded, or be awarded closer to the departure date, depending on reserve coverage.

For example, if you have a 4 day starting on Sunday and want to trade for a 4 day starting on Monday, if there isn't enough coverage, as defined by the company, then the trade will never fire. Even if you're going from say a two day to a four day, if the new trip does not cover every day you currently work, the trade may be delayed or denied.

You can always call crew scheduling and ask if there is something keeping the trade from going through.

Crew Companion will show you why a trade did or didn't process. In "my trades," expand the trade in question and click on "Trade Status" to see a list of the trade runs and what happened with your trade in each run. A frequent one will be "No Coverage."

Does it’s interpretation of “coverage” chage closer to the date? Aren’t Reserves pretty much set for the month?

Also I’m watching several Christmas trades and the reasons go back and forth between “No coverage” and “Not legal”. Whats not legal about trading?

Something on your schedule is making the trade not legal. When you build a trade make sure you click the check legality box.

The "Not Legal" reason is when it tried to put together a 3-way trade but the trade was not legal on one of the pilot's schedule.

The "No Coverage" reason is when there is no coverage for your proposed trade.
