Ipad remote wipe....
Interesting.....my Pad got remotely "sanitized". I turned it on and next thing I knew all the "non-UAL app store” apps were gone.....
|
I'm always amazed at what pilots will do on the company iPad.
|
Shocking.
(not really) |
Must have been the Commie Pinko NY Times app I had installed.....
|
You sound surprised that UAL has control over the piece of equipment that give you for work.
|
Why do you have anything that’s NOT related to UA on your IPad anyway? It’s a work tool that is monitored.
|
These iPads are NOT personal property. I’m always amazed at the guys that have their text messages on it and use it as their personal iPad ...you’re just begging for trouble.
|
I'll never understand the hysteria over having something harmless like the Kindle App on the companies iPad. Color me obdurate.
|
No one is surprised, obviously.
But what's interesting is they didn't wipe it back when the apple app store backdoor was closed. My conspiracy theory is they've been finding lots of goodies on ipads people have been turning in and wiping the old pads now will encourage people to come in for their new ipad "unpaid extracurricular time" sooner than they would have. |
How is it unpaid? Come in at show time, pick it up and go on with your life.

How about EZCCS gets approved. That would be nice.

I’m just happy useful apps like the Gyro Compass an Reimburse Me are still available. God forbid something like EZCCS (which I use every day, every leg) would replace those in the company App Store.
That’d be like allowing safari access to CCS over cockpit WiFi: DANGEROUS. |

OK. Bad example perhaps.
How about My Radar? Gives you an instant radar image of the area around the airport, or anywhere else you see fit. Nice to see what kind of crap is stacking up in your departure path before you depart. Gone. You see my point though. Simple, harmless and often beneficial apps are verboten. Another confidence building maneuver. |

I got it. You can be trusted with the jet and the humans, just not the iPad. The whole charade just seems a bit silly to me.
|
If you log out of airwatch, all your apps are still there.
|
WSI shows radar returns...

I can neither confirm, nor deny this. |

It’s funny seeing all the guys paranoid about apps on the iPad.
Is there one single instance of someone getting in trouble due to improper iPad use? Other airlines just give the pilots money to buy an iPad and do whatever they want with it. LCA’s have unlocked models. It’s just silliness. |

Rightfully, the union does not publicly discuss specific discipline matters but all the communications from the MEC have been quite consistent on the matter. The 1%’ers are out there and always ruin the fun for the other 99%. |
Then wipe theirs.
|
Hey Doc, It hurts when I do this ....
|
it works fine for me... data comes from the same hosts.
|
On the other hand, I noticed today that the pre-loaded "Garage Band" is no longer there.....

Who wants to be the first guy to lose a 200k a year job because he screws something up and it turns out he was playing angry birds (on
a MONITORED company device) instead of working the comms? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northw...nes_Flight_188 Don't be like these guys. Your iPad is yours. Oscar's is Oscar's. Never the two shall meet. FSAP doesn't work for intentional violations. Geeze. |

Interesting. This also may, or may not, cause the Apple App Store to briefly appear like it used to so one could update/purchase any app. One could also theoretically, in that brief period, move the App Store to the menu bar at the bottom of the screen where it would remain permanently.
I can neither confirm, nor deny this. Mine was wiped, and I got the new one yesterday. In setting it up today I can confirm that she’s locked up tighter than a virgin. Bottom line with the new one, you ain’t doing squat to change anything. If only there were a way to watch downloaded Netflix, amazon or xfinity shows on my Mac I wouldn’t be so bummed out. Whatever will I do with myself on all those deadheads I do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

How about -just don’t put stuff on it. You want to use an iPad for personal use, then buy an iPad or write your reps to put it in the next contract. This is company property...and while I’m not paranoid about them spying on me, I do believe you shouldn’t give the company ANY ammo...and personal stuff on a company iPad is low hanging fruit.
It’s not hard! |

No. I tend to soften my demeanor and delivery when I post online.
Are you really this concerned about some guys random forum posts in real life? I sincerely apologize if my snarky rejoinder above caused you discomfort and prompted you to respond. 😀 See. I used a smiley. |
Personally speaking, I could use more posts from The Godfather of Soul. Keep it up...thumbs up!
