Personally, I like pressing recall 17 times per checklist.

You have to press it that much to get all the lights to illuminate on both sides. And it also discourages the flying pilot from pressing it another 10 times while reading the checklist.

At least that’s all fixed with the 21st century MAX.

:D

Anybody have any buds at swa and amr who have actually flown it? The CBTs are not giving me a warm fuzzy

You'll be able to eat lunch during engine start...

I've flown the MAX-8 a few times. The engines are smoother and quieter, and as mentioned above, take a ton of time to start when warm. They seem to idle higher too - release the brakes and you'll slowly start to move.

Otherwise it's still a 737. The big screens are pretty, but there's not really any extra capability. Just more map display. I feel like it's a little heavier in pitch during landing, and had a CA say he thought it felt a lot like a 767 (I wouldn't know), but it's close enough to an NG that I don't think about it much.

It's nice not having an OFF position for the gear anymore, and they moved the handle far enough to break any tendency to blindly reach up and accidentally put the gear down during the climb. ;)

A 767 is fairly light regarding both pitch and definitely bank. The 757 is much heavier.

The true sign that a younger FA is about to fall off the cliff ... I just got my first kitten ...

Necessary evil.
