United has been fling heavy equipment from LAX to HNL for decades so yes, it is sort of a big deal to see us flying 737's with an occasional 757 to a spot we once used to fly with 747's and DC-10s only to do it in the future with 737s and an occasional 757.

Nobody cares if those 36 pilots don't want to be displaced. Probably they waited because they wanted displacement rights instead of bidding a vacancy. In either case, nobody cares other than those individuals. I could care less.

I have been displaced a bunch, including MIA and SEA.. To bad, so sad.

I predict that in the near and distant future, there will be change. I hope my personal decisions about where to be based will work out better than the decisions I made in the past.

But nobody else cares.

This isn’t news, there’s a grand total of 36 pilots on the thing. As was mentioned the 787LAX fleet is growing like crazy.

The 36 left we’re just the ones with the patience to hold out for a displacement bid.

I disagree because while our competitors are hiring at record levels, we’re still contracting. They’re going to get the experienced applicants. We on the other hand are going to get what’s left over. We’re going to be the last to the party.

Where are we contracting? Have you done any real research?

You have evidence to show we re contracting?

AA only hires from their whole owned through flow and DL classes are getting smaller with CAs being displaced back to FO. At least we aren't forcing downgrades at the moment.

Because COs management (Smizek and his yes men) ran the merger straight into the ground and it will take years to pick up the pieces.

How many folks would it take getting displaced or BES’s closed in order for you to “care”?

So we should keep open flying just so that you don’t have to be displaced? It’s not like we’re furloughing as guys are going backwards. I have a feeling you’re going to land on your feet..... I don’t care either.

Where did I make a mention of open flying in this thread? Are you creating your own argument?
The point that I’m making since you apparently missed it is that by the time
most of the apathy wears off it’ll be too late.
Keep not caring. Someone wants to get you all the way down to the point to wear you just start to care. That’s their sweet spot.

Pick your battles. If you want to go back to the days of flying 747’s to Hawaii then fine, I’d rather be working for a company making billions per year. Do I want better pay and more QOL? Of course. No one in the hotdog factory asked where I think hulls and crews should be based however. Enjoy the 78 or whatever Captain bid you decide to rightfully displace into.

I’m not getting displaced. I’m commenting because the closing of BES’s no matter how small has signaled or resulted in better financial success for United Airlines over the last 20 years. It signaled quite the opposite.
