Assuming by people saying “got the call” it’s a phone call but people can use that term interchangeably with email now a’days...

Correct. I got an actual phone call from an actual HR rep. It was followed up by an official email a few days later.

To the guys that have been called for interview. What have you folks done to standout and to be noticed from the application pool?

I met with a UAL base chief pilot who later wrote me a LOR to the hiring department. My invite also came 5 Months after being hired at a LCC, with a new type added, and 2 Months after adding a new volunteer position and redoing my app. Not sure if a single one of these events triggered it, or a combination.
