As soon as the info is entered in the system during indoc.

Actually takes 24-48 hours for them to be eligible once info is submitted

When I started here I ended up with a long training gap & wanted to travel with the family. I called the Pilot Service Center & they basically processed my request the same day. YMMV, but people here are pretty cool & if you have a pressing need, they’ll usually do what they can to take care of you. But otherwise, yes, you should be able to submit your info on Day 1, and it takes a few business days to process.

And they pay for their own uniforms...and a flat rate salary (approx $5,000/month) from day 1 of Indoc until IOE complete....definitely room for improvement.

But Delta pilots do get profit sharing for theur probationary year, which could be as much as $16,000 (depending on when you are hired during the year).

It’s pretty uncommon (due to IRS rules) to get profit sharing anywhere without a calendar year of service at a large company.

But Delta does indeed pay PS for their noobs.

Buddy of mine started Indoc at Delta on 10 Dec. The following Feb he got paid 16%PS based on his 20 days of prorated training pay salary.

Agreed...that's why I brought it up. So the previous chest thumping posts re how great UAL treats their new hires fails to look at the overall picture. While what they posted was factually true AND good shiznit....it only tells part of the story

A UAL new hire with a Jan class date would lose approx $16,000 of PS ?(DAL PS payout)...UAL is less % as of now. So, some new hires would be better off with the Delta system others with the UAL system if hired later in the year.

My real point.....if these minor nuances (which effectively are inconsequential over a career) affect one's choice of which outfit to go with......well, I'd rather they not get hired where I work because I feel they lack critical thinking skills. JMHO

A majors need to pattern bargain to get the "bestest" for ALL the pilots...including the new hires

PS. Not only do they get PS if on probation...they get DB (additional 16% )on top of the PS.

So, it's not an IRS thing...it an "eat the young thing"

You think ALPA or the UAL pilot group looks at it like a "eat the young thing" with regards to our negotiations?

So if I start January of 2020 I will still be eligible to receive PS in 2021?

Full calendar year PS is paid in February of the following year, so if you start in January of 2020 you will receive PS starting with the full year of 2021 that will be paid in 2022. Meanwhile, those that start in December of 2019 will receive profit sharing for 2020.

(This assumes no changes to the plan and UAL makes a profit.)

Wow. So I am not eligible on a pro rated basis?
