Just curious. Since our uniform guidance is contained in the FOM, which other sections do you choose to ignore.....

Granted, this is nothing on the spectrum of what’s important. For instance, I hate the hat but wear it when directed in the FOM. I also do my best to be knowledgeable and adhere to the rest of the stated Ops Specs.

Over the years you have had a lot of good things to say. The line above however, is akin to "Have you stopped beating your wife?"

Or maybe, like others; he is tired of seeing too many of our own looking completely unprofessional and basically signaling to the rest of us to “F&@$ off “ by wearing backpacks over the shoulder with the blazer and no hat while walking down the concourse to fly their 777 to Shanghai. No kidding, the other day in SFO; senior captain runs into the elevator wearing black running shoes, carrying a backpack and sporting old legacy wings. Complete tool.

I could completely care less what the other pilot is wearing. Taking care of myself is a full time job.

However, when one presupposes that a pilot is ignoring other parts of the FOM simply because he doesn't wear the hat, that goes a bit too far.

Ya, I was there doing the fitting, these are pics of the fitting only, generic clothing designed for one thing, fitting. Took about 30 minutes to get fit for the pilot stuff.

2. Why does this whole thing have to be so confidential? It's a uniform not the announcement of that Spirit merger... In which case we're getting yellow ties.

FYI uniform timeline is on Flying Together and hasn’t changed. No secrets. Rollout targeted for Q1 2020 IIRC.

This is a direct to quote from the uniform refresh page.

“Here's the general timeline we're working toward, as we expect all employees to be in new uniforms by the end of 2019.”

Thanks. Also I meant why is the design kept a secret, not timeline. Seems like it would be no big deal to run it by us.

Actually, it was a big success! Hats became optional....

Nice try. That’s a complete logical fail on your part. I acknowledge that not wearing the silly hat during the winter is against policy. However, your attempt to equate safety related, FAA approved Ops specs with admin. issues like the hat is laughable. Do you really think the FAA gives a rat’s ass about the uniform? Now if you violate ops specs, you’ll have a fed call you or pay a visit real quick. I think most pilots understand the difference.
