Career Expo Experience
Attended the Expo this morning. It was a very well organized event. Everybody was super friendly and went out of their way to make everyone comfortable.
The one on one was trickier than I expected. I didn't do a lot of prep because I wanted my answers to be natural as opposed to canned or overly rehearsed and not genuine.
However, I was asked to relate what my most memorable flight was... And I froze! I have been flying a long, long time and I've had some very routine flights (most of them) and a few memorable ones. But I had to really work to recall one of them when put on the spot.
I hope I didn't look too stupid! I just wanted to pass along that experience so you can be ready.

The best way to sound natural and not overly rehearsed is to over rehearse until your stories seem natural and spontaneous. Any decent prep company would tell you this. Hope you get a second chance after a Hogan invite.

I had a similar experience to Wingnut. The one-on-one felt rushed and fairly intimidating with a lot of other people in the same room. I was asked a TMAAT about applying training in a flight experience. My answer felt well...dumb. Hopefully that's not the end all be all. United is my clear top choice. I do feel good about all of the other recruiters I spoke with in the hall.
I agree that the event was very well organized. Everybody was warm and welcoming. I found it humorous that each presenter thanked us for attending when it is us who are looking for an opportunity to join them.

As well as, when asked a question, you have it in your "tool box" to stop, think, THEN formulate the answer in the S.T.A.R. format they like to hear.
