You lived up to your name and quite frankly need to lighten up and maybe change it to Francis.

BTW I knew there are 350 rates, but do you know what is being exchanged at the bargaining table?

Ok you may make your grumbling speculations now.

It doesn’t matter what an ALPA Carrier flies because it’s based off of the highest negotiated rate.

I had Prater in the jumpseat several years ago and asked him point blank about the A380 rate. He said that It only gets used if it is actually on the property and that our contract rate does nothing to the salary that the president makes.

I had asked a good friend that I trust, who is an LEC member at another ALPA Carrier. That is what he told me. I tried to research it and Article X, Section 5 only details that it’s a BOD decision. So my apologies for writing incorrect information.

National officer compensation is required by the constitution and bylaws to be on the agenda at every regular BOD meeting. You can find the exact verbiage by searching for “2014 BOD compilation of action” inside the ALPA website. Once you find that document, you’ll have to search for the resolution regarding national officer compensation. Sniper66 is close, but it’s a 26% override. The 380 rates would only matter if they were on property.

That was an eye opener for me when I tried to look up the actual formula a while ago. I actually gave up before I found it. I don’t really understand the logic behind making it simultaneously opaque and malleable. If there was a set, easily accessible, way to find ALPA officer compensation formulas, it would put to rest some of the more outrageous claims.

Opensecrets.org will show actual compensation for every officer.

I think it used to be a combination of the top ALPA airlines hourly pay, not necessarily the ALPA President's carrier. The point being it changes and shouldn't be so opaque. ALPA would benefit by making the info easily accessible and quashing the "I heard..." rumors.
