Kudos to the UAL MEC. Outstanding videos and comm. I strongly believe the UAL MEC is heading down the right path. If our MEC can negotiate a CBA that brings 70 & 76 seat flying to mainline, that will be truly industry redefining.

"Frequency stimulates demand" the argument of the 2000's..
Anyway while the videos are good, what I did not hear them say was that RJ staffing is the Company's problem to solve.
They did an excellent job outlining why especially 50 seat flying is going away, but that is NOT ALPA's problem. Protect the top end, improve the mainline, the rest falls in place. With United going first this round, I sure hope they don't go balls out trying to recapture 50 seat scope neglecting to work on protections for JV's which aren't as much of a problem for them yet.

If anyone of us has any delusions about how bad our regional product is... they need to jumpseat on a UAX flight. The 50 seat product is abysmal. The 70 seaters are better but it is still a regional with no support to the overworked crew. If spirit, frontier, jetblue, allegiant, ... can fill a mainline sized aircraft between two points we can too. If it says United on the side we need to own the operation of the aircraft. When it goes tits up the media will only roast United.

I think the MEC is trying to help the company un**** itself. the company is looking staff the airline with college kids
UND announces career pathway program with United Airlines | UND University Letter
looks like the MEC is trying to steer them away fro this and the dying express biz model and bring the flying in house. My take when you watch all the vids.

A new video needs to be produced that explains the reasons that the company wants to do this, and the specific way they view it as a financial benefit.
Then the union needs to pick apart each and every argument.
As it stands, I still don't have a clear idea as to how the company believes this is beneficial, and how beneficial it actually is.
Does it increase revenue $100,000 per day? $1,000,000 per day? How do they feel about giving up control of the brand... and have they placed a value on that? It's these type of questions that need to be answered (though the actual questions are more complex than how I have simplified it).
