Both American and Hawaiian are cancelling some China flights. How likely is it that United also trims China service?

I have heard for a while that the Chinese airlines have flooded the market with seats (like everything else they do).
Go on United.com or Kayak. Search tickets to/from US and PVG or PEK. It is eye watering. We have far more exposure to China than any other US carrier. Actually, we might have more than ALL other US carriers combined.
One way ORD to PEK or PVG. 350 USD. That is about 6 cents per seat mile. Yikes.
Same for SFO, YVR, etc. Even HKG flights are 1/2 the price of NRT flights. At least NRT is doing well.

They're not after the coach passenger, they're after the business class guy and freight. I don't think a lot of US businessmen are comfortable, at least yet, flying on Air China.

So i invite you to go to United.com or Kayak or Priceline, and get a quote for what I described. And get back to me. 2500 dollars for business class on a 13 hour flight to ORD or SFO doesn't make money for us.
5000 for business is losing money. I searched a bunch of dates and a bunch of city pairs. It is a catastrophe.
IND to SNA makes a bunch of money. ORD or SFO to China loses a bunch. I don't know how long this has gone on. I don't know how long it will continue. AMR cried uncle. When will we?
The lowest I saw was 335$ from ORD to PVG. The high was less than 600$.
