Yes it's apples to oranges. Also the spectrum is quite varied for junior enlisted experience. SOF operator/aircrew in combat on one end, culinary specialist on some tropical island paradise on the other. And then there's the USAF... (I keed).

It comes down to what sandbox you want play in, bluecollar or whitecollar. And major airlines are in the whitecollar one.

Was that from scratch or with credits/2 year degree already??

I took my classes through Excelsior College out of Albany, NY. They converted my mil experience and all my ratings to college credit which helped the process.
