I just want to know if there will be an opportunity to speak with a recruiter one on one. From what I can tell they have done away with the fast passes where you had a specific time slot. Perhaps someone on here is connected to the recruitment team?

Ngpa 2019

Went there 2 years in a row. First year was a nightmare. United didn’t have enough recruiters to meet with everyone. The line stretched across the pool deck of the resort. Anyone with a fast pass just went in front of the line. People without one stood in line for 8hrs to meet with our recruiters, baking in the sun in black suits, going on food/bathroom runs in shifts while others held their spot in line, only to get towards the front and be told “sorry folks, that’s all we’ve got time for today. Please hand in your resumes and we’ll take a look back in Denver.”

The second year went much better, as they limited the amount of tickets.

Politics aside, it’s a decent career fair for the price if you can’t get an invite to an in-house expo/career fair. If they offer fast passes or time slot reservations, I highly recommend reserving one. Not sure if they do that anymore though... if you have the time off can easily take it, check it out. If not, don’t worry about it. It may just be a good opportunity to talk to a recruiter and see how you can better your resume, but that’s likely all it is now. I think most of the hiring is coming from the in-house expos which invites are sent to the top applicants. Granted- going to NGPA could give you the added points and feedback to make your application a top candidate so it can’t hurt to go....

Some of this is an example of why comedians won’t perform on college campuses. You can’t even crack a joke without some super sensitive person claiming that what you said is offensive. With the exception of a few really clean knock knock jokes, most humor is at the expense of another. I’m not offended or harmed by jokes about overweight, uptight, middle aged white guys. There’re funny. Crude humor is the best of all types of humor, it can just get you in trouble at work. Lighten up and enjoy laughing at others as well as yourself. Life is too short to be politically correct.

First off: This isn't a comedy club, it's a workplace forum filled with professionals.

Secondly, it's widely accepted by the public(I'm assuming you are an airline pilot) and 100% settled at United that these types of comments aren't acceptable in the workplace. It's against the rules, for good reason. You are being rude, and bigoted, which is not acceptable behavior by any standard of measurement for an ALPA pilot. Your comments are hurtful to my friends here at United and I won't accept you playing as if they weren't. This isn't a grey area. People in a comedy club can leave, people at their employer can't.

If you want to say bigoted stuff do it somewhere else.

The constant gay bashing every time NGPA shows up on here is regrettable and embarrassing and for those of you reading this who aren't at UAL it doesn't represent our pilots or values as an organization.

I think we need a hiring meet n greet for cat lovers..

Now, I double dog dare ya to make a “cat joke”. ;)

I’m already offended just thinking about it.

Let’s just agree to be all inclusive, and establish a new class: P.O.’ed

Perpetually Offended.

Nope. I dare you to make a gay joke in front of Oscar. I’m sure he’ll find it funny.

You may think it’s a molehill which is why I haven’t said that I think you are a bigot but it needed to be said. No place for it here. None.

looking like a snowflake is melting. I don’t care if it’s a gay joke or any other type of joke. No need to get your panties in a wad over this stuff. Oops, I did it again.
