Honestly, this could be much worse.....compare the new Alaska uniform.
Basically, this appears to be dark blue, which is fine. Back to the L-UAL style thin stripes, which is better. Silver is less cheesy than gold. It's unfortunate we are still wearing hats, but I never expected we'd be lucky enough to slither out of that. As far as the leather jacket, that kind of needed to be killed off...most guys wear them a few sizes too big rather than "fitted", like an old A-1. The coats here look pretty nondescript, and there's no purple on the short windbreaker....you could almost commute in it. I have no doubt the materials quality will outclass MH. The BIG thing is I think this passes the commuting test. Take off your purple tie, put on your dark fleece or windbreaker and it's pretty stealth. You'll look more or less the same trying to get home as you do now. |
To be fair, customer service agents need to stand out from the public. A bright, uncommon color signals they're helpers, not passengers. I used to wear the ugliest Mustard coat as a guide for a tour operator in Orlando. I was instantly identifiable. So, there is a good reason for FAs and gate agents to have a look that is unique and not likely to be worn by a random passenger.
On the other hand our uniforms already are distinct from a business suit. Nobody wears hats anymore, just ball caps. Nobody has stripes on their sleeves, or insignia on their chest. We need more conservative colors, not less, to avoid being clownish. |
I can’t say I love the new look but I definitely don’t hate it. Could be a lot worse.

I'll be honest.. Delta uniform starting to look pretty good right now, double breasted or not.
It's probably not too late for a course correction if there's enough noise. The tie will get changed based on our input, no doubt. If I were cynical I would even say the tie is an intentional angst magnet canard so they can later change it "based on overwhelming input from our valued employees," allowing us buy in to the new uniform. |

Aside from the tie, I don't hate it. I like the new stripes better, and the tech jacket seems like a nice addition. The purple liner on the cardigan isn't my favorite either, but it's not horrible.

Like most responses on here, I have reservations about the purple tie. Polaris is our premium product and should be the dominant color reflected throughout all the uniforms. If the tie was this shade of Blue, I'd buy into it more.
As far as the style of the blazer and pants, they look the same at first glance as everything else we see out there. Nothing stands out to me as "fashion forward". Still looks traditional and professional to me. Personally, I actually like the thin silver stripes and non gold wings etc. Again our premium product is Polaris and there is ZERO gold in that product. It's all brushed nickel accents. I actually like the various coat options bc you could actually wear them on a layover and not stand out as a Chester the Molester type. Overall the pilot uniform isn't that far out of touch, except perhaps the purple. The other work group uniforms, especially the FA's, I think are much much worse. |
Isn’t purple the color of the prostrate cancer awareness movement?

Shawn will never purchase beer or food in my presence:
"North Korean pilots have a better choice of tie....just let that sink in for a moment." |
Is that guy’s left hand in a pocket like a sweatshirt would have....??
On a suit style jacket... really..? Why don’t they just give us a hoodie with stripes... |
