Pitts and Toga,

Was this the general length you saw with the other candidates?

I talked to a guy in DEN this week who had just interviewed, he started the process in December. He was a military guy but I didn’t ask what he flew.

My interview group the majority of them were guys coming straight off active duty. A couple regional guys in with apps in for several years and army pilot who had been flying part 135 for a few years.

I dont see 4 year degree. Did you leave that out? How much of that TPIC was 121?

When you applied (or how long since) is completely irrelevant!

Every app is scored based on the secret formula that UA has. When they want to interview 20 applicants, the computer spits out the next 20 names!

Historically they had separate piles, but I don't think they have those now, or at least they aren't under any court order to do so. But even if they do have separate piles, I guarantee one of them is not "who applied the longest ago."

Apply and then update as frequently as you can. Nobody knows what specifically goes into the secret formula, but more flying, more aircraft types, more PIC, a 4 year degree, more instructor/management positions, recommendations, more this, more that, and more of the other thing will all get you more points.

How many for each thing I don't know, but keep flying and keep updating and then someday (hopefully sooner rather than later) UA will let you know when the secret formula has spit out your name.

The TPIC is all 135, as that's where I'm currently flying.

Thats a big box to have checked...right or wrong. Your numbers are in the ball park. I know plenty of guys that came from the 91/135 world. Justbe careful with the flight times if this applies. I have some NetJets / corporate friends that would try to make the argument that they were type rated so when they flew the empty legs in the left seat...they would log it as PIC. It could lead to awkward questions when they review your times. (This was sort of eluded to in previous posts about why the airlines prefer 121 time...its easier to verify the experience).

Its never too early to start practice interviewing. Emerald Coast or similar services can get you thinking about your experiences and how to apply them to the interview. If you work at XO you probably have plenty to draw from relating to customer service and dealing with people, etc.

Best of luck...plan a vacation or some place you need to be. Thats usually when thye call for an interview.
