New Contract
What do UAL pilots want to see in the new contract? Or maybe a better question would be what you think is attainable? I apologize of this has been discussed in a previous thread.

We don’t negotiate in public, our mec speaks for us at the negotiating table.

The MEC surveyed the pilot group before negotiations started, analyzed the data, and used it to establish our goals. For the new pilots that were not here at the time, contact your rep. |

Understood, won’t ask anymore. I’m holding a CJO and not sure how any of this works.

I did notice a few things of interest in reading the Delta MEC Chairman's update...
1. They have scope violations. I believe 22 in total. 2. They are about to start section 6. I was surprised to see that Delta was having issues with their scope language and Management violations of it. I recall the Continental Scope language was very tight. CAL management tried to violate it a few times, I think 3. All 3 times they got hammered pretty quick. Hope we get some really good and bullet proof scope language in our next contract. |

So we can scope clause all we want, but then we give away that flying in a code share and nobody blinks. |

I want an 84 hour guarantee, and I will only work on Wednesdays. But not EVERY Wednesday!

Are there any plans for the NC to put out an update on the status of negotiations each week? That would be most informative to help the pilots stay informed and preclude them from having so many phone calls to reps. 12,000 phone calls a week to a handful of reps might get to be a bit much.

Five bucks the update says, "make yourselves comfortable".

That was the feeling I walked away with. Every day after the amenable just makes the size of our retro check for a yes vote get more expensive.
No offense but when have we EVER received full value for retro on any of our post amendable, previous contracts? We've always settled for pennies on the dollar with weak-kneed signing bonuses and our management team knows full well it'll happen again. |

Add to that, pilots have recently been getting retro checks as opposed to just a signing bonus. So the retro has been re-released into our lexicon. Having said all that, right now there is no motivation for us or the Company to get a deal done. We’re not going cave on scope, so they will be reluctant to give us anything that we want. Just my $0.02...
The RJ thing will eventually force the company to the table. Delta continues to kick our corporate asses here. Putting 50 seats on a 70 seat RJ will right fix the ASM costs... So, I would posit that it is in both our interests to get it done sooner than later. My enthusiasm to be a happy motivated employee seems to be waning. |

I would argue against that part of your statement. Daily and continued intentional abuse of the reserve system and short calls. This won't get fixed until we have a contract. Lots of other parts of the contract--still from the bankruptcy black mail, that we very much need fixing. The vacation credit per day anyone? Underwater on PTC for vacation, trip trading system? I can go on. It is in our best interests to get the contract done.

No offense...but this is the first contract negotiated by the two parties. UAL ALPA vs the company. The last contract was a 3 way negotiation and the two that were negotiating with the company did not have aligned goals.
I certainly can't and our track record speaks for itself. |
