The cross town pay is a joke ... doesn’t cover the cost of the travel unless the trip you have offers the timing to take trains/busses both directions . Which most of the time it doesn’t . 5 am reports don’t have trains and busses to operate that early ... and show you on time .

Ok so then one takes an Uber / Lyft/ Cab. Uber’s are anywhere from 60ish 130 dollars . That’s one direction !!!! So what abiut the return trip back to EWR.

I don’t mind NOT making money on cross town pay , but how about NOT loosing money on the deal, which happens often . Unless you take the FA shuttle or are lucky enough to commute out of the Airport once you’re done .

Crosstown needs to cover the actual expense of travel regardless of which method you use and submit receipt, I know it would kill the local guys who eat up the crosstown pay all month.

I'm guessing the company's argument would be that round trip public transportation is about $50 and they give us $96. Not sure if that would be worth opening a can of worms over in negotiations, but you have valid points.

But that’s just it . Minus taking the train bus which doesn’t always run during the times you need to get there . 50 bucks each way doesn’t get one there and back ...

I agree it’s small potatos and wouldn’t want to waste too much negotiating capital on it , but still worth arguing over on the inter web !!!

Anyone have a reference saying that we can ride? The driver is arguing with me that we're a different union and I'm not supposed to ride. The 2 flight attendants are indifferent.

That stinks. I wish I could remember where to find it. I recall reading something saying we could ride if there were seats open, but flight attendants had priority.

Did you end up catching a ride?

Straight off the van time post in the LGA Crewroom...

“In the even there are more flight attendants than seats, the driver will contact the company to send an additional van.”

“Please note that the flight attendants that are using ground transportation to get to work will be given first priority .”

And then there’s a phone number at the bottom to call if there needs to be another van sent or if it is late. For S ‘n Gs. I called the # and it seems to be an FA help phone tree.

- sounds to me like it’s a shared van but FA’s have first priority. Should a second can be needed it would be available, in theory...

If you’d like, PM me and I can send you the pic with times and the verbiage that I mentioned. (Unless that too is somehow signaling or frowned upon)

Our union seriously dropped the ball on the LGA deal the crosstown pay is a joke and really burdens the new reserve guys. The fact we don’t have shuttle service is laughable. They can 1) get us there via a shuttle or 2)open a sub base 3)reimburse cost of Uber or cab. Not sure who came up with this $90 one way reimbursement think it’s a UAL holdover??

In 1976/1977 United closed the Newark pilot base and moved the flying and crews to Cleveland. The flight crew base at JFK/LGA remained open and they covered Newark flying when needed after the EWR base closure.

A trip sequence after this date (1976/1977), that originated and terminated at EWR and flown by pilots based at JFK/LGA, triggered "double town" pay which is, I believe, what you're referring to.

Uhh….the contract is really pretty clear. Co-domicile airports, you are responsible to cover. In the bay, that means SFO, OAK, and SJC. NY means LGA. We could still be flying out of JFK too.

It is your responsibility. Commuting is your choice. The cross-town pay has gone up in subsequent contracts, however really is still not adequate. Better than nothing.

I didn't know about the van, which I think is actually pretty cool. Complaining about it? Might want a better perspective.
