I am a new CJO looking to start in the fall. I’ve seen a few recently accepted the B756 to EWR/SFO. If I was to do the same, how long could I expect to get to IAH? I understand it’s quicker though with the A320/B737 to IAH, but what’s a few extra months if it’s doable. Or would I be shooting myself in the foot trying to get to IAH by taking the B756 (if even available)?

Anyone have insight on the life of a jr 756 guy in IAH? I live in San Antonio.

I have a buddy who was hired in Nov 2016 who was able to bid into IAH 756 during the MOAB last December. So, assuming he entered training this spring, he probably hit the line recently or will do so soon. So, 2.5 years is conceivable. Trick is he got 737 out of indoc and was able to bid into IAH on it last spring. So, I agree with JDT30 that bidding 737/AB is the way to go since your bid freeze will probably be up before you can bid 756 into IAH anyways.

Agree with what all else said . Take 737/320 bid and go up when the time comes . For all we know the 757 could shift and takes years to hold .

That same seniority pilot would be a very junior line holder on the Airbus or 737. Now, movement in IAH has been very slow for the last couple of years (fuel price too low), so the movement picture in IAH has been pretty bleak. This Fall/Winter is supposed to be eye watering in the amount of bids/training that are coming, so hopefully that will create better movement all across the system, not just on the coasts. |

Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk The latest routine is for the crew desk to basically give everyone (that doesn't get an actual trip) a Short Call assignment. Those vary in start times throughout the day and are predominantly timed to protect INTL departures that get delayed. So, based on being over in SAT, being on Reserve would either be a QOL pain in the arse (drive up the road an hour while on short call) or a great deal of time gambling that you don't get a minimum time callout. If you are actually within 2.5 hours, then the you are in a much less painful situation. My advice when it comes to commuting to reserve (over 2.5 hours away), not just no, but HELL NO! |

FWIW, there is no training freeze restriction going from 737 FO to 756 FO. See 8-D-1-d. 756 is a higher pay band.

Would there be an appreciable difference in time to bid IAH between the 737 and 320?
