We showed up in EWR on a hot day and the agent apologized that she took the initiative to call MX after the FA showed up to start the APU and get the packs on. We called a redcoat down to make sure her supervisor knew what an outstanding job she was doing!!

I applaud your recognition of this agent. Unfortunately, the agent's actions are a rare occurrence. Usually, no one follows up with the cabin temps and there is zero communication when they become uncomfortable. My all time favorite is when the pilots are late(not on board), the apu is turned off, the pax are boarded and yep, ramp pulls the Smithsonian external air. Frying pan meet the oven.

Great, we have ID’d the problem, now what’s the fix? If it bothers us, it definitely affects our customers. Asking as a new guy.

Fly boxes, always be plugged in with air and never worry about the “back.”

I’m pretty sure they lowered all the NB and 756 FO positions to 30 at most based (kept SFO high) to prevent backfill from more recent new hires that drew SFO out of Indoc. Seems like they need some folks to stay in SFO (through summer?) a little while longer, hopefully they bring those numbers back up to previous staffing with the Mega-ludicrous vacancy(s) this Fall.

If I get on an airplane that’s 90+ with no/weak air and full of pax, it’s an FSAP in my mind. Mothers with new borns, elderly, etc should not be subjected to that and it can get dangerous fast. If you didn’t document it then it didn’t happen.

Good point and a useful tool but how do we prevent that from happening in the first place?

One thing I’m thinking: what exactly does meeting one hour prior in the FPA on a domestic first pairing accomplish? At least if we meet at the jet, we can get to the jet before the pax and gather general SA on Mx status, cabin temps etc.

Oh boy, meeting in the flight office vs the jet. That..... Has been beat to death depending upon which side of the asylum you hail from.

Maybe you could take up the cause of cabin temps and run some of your suggestions by the flight office. Sounds like you're onto something.
