Rumor compass airlines will get 60 emb175 from United and fly for them. Any truth to that

 

Mods should change the name of this thread (or delete it). There’s plenty of truth to THAT.

 

First off why would UAL pilots know anything about UAL buying a regional?

2. If Compass got 60 175s they would have to take all of Mesas since United is scoped our on 76 seaters. I highly doubt Skywest and Republic would lose any business.

3. If they put 70 seats in it then they could replace Mesas CRJ 700s but that is only 20. Go jets 20 are already going away for the 70 seat 175s at Xjet. And the 19 Skywest are used for Aspen.

If compass is getting 60 jets Mesa is toast. because there is no room for expansion under United’s scope and RAH isn’t going anywhere and neither is Skywest.

 

I believe it, you think Ual was done with just getting Xjet?? I see Ual buying up 1-2 more regionals and putting them all under the ManaAir umbrella, they will all be separate from eachother and all the regionals not under the ManaAir umbrella will lose all the Ual flying and Skywest will probably end up getting all the left over pieces. So, yea.. Mesa i think is toast

 

Take a peek at the OPs post history. It’s literally 4 years of “rumor” this, and “rumor” that. Dude obviously worked at ExpressJet for like 5 months in 2008, got furloughed, quit flying, and hasn’t really come back since. But SURE.....he’s got a lead on this hot story that nobody else has heard.............🤔

This is like one of those airliners dot net threads. Rumors, speculation, opinions, but missing facts.

 

I have heard absolutely nada.

However, with Compass and its 36 175s being cut loose by DAL a deal with or acquisition by UAL and conversion to 70 seaters is pretty conceivable. If said deal is tied into Mesa or somesuch providing CRJ700 feedstock for the CRJ550 it becomes more conceivable. I do think UAL will want more 550s than have already been announced, and the only near term way to get them is conversions. We’ve got 300+ 50 seaters in the UAX fleet and that number can unfortunately grow a bit as mainline grows (see 1-c-1-a-(2)-(b) of the UPA if you are unfamiliar). Maybe nothing happens in regard to Compass, but I think it is a good bet that more 550s will find their way into the fleet as their operating costs are only marginally higher than current 50 seaters while their increased revenue potential should easily offset the extra costs.

 

If I recall correctly, the flight attendant CBA specifically prohibits United from wholly owning a regional airline.
