I came into Denver several weeks ago and the traffic on the ramp was brisk but not jammed up by any means. At least it wouldn’t have if the ramp lady hadn’t been involved.
She turned a slightly busy ramp into a complete and total rampmaggeden. My favorite is when she starts predicting and announcing the future.

At least with a metering frequency, most of the stepped on radio calls are on metering. UA123 push Bxx insert SID. Before they can reply SKW 123 and SKW 789 step between the push call and response......
oh well.

To relate more DEN fun, after going to ground at 6E, the frequency is trashed with folks stepping all over each other and GRND CTL, we just stop. Goes on for a minute or two, GRND finally gets a moment and says, I’ll call you!
Acft at 6E state call sign. Me, UAL123 with X and sitting here and waiting a reasonable break in the chatter to call. GRND, see everyone else out there, that’s how it’s done when it’s busy like this. UAL123, do you have numbers for 17R? Me, yes sir. Good, you’re getting out number one........
Radio etiquette. Listen for a moment before transmitting and don’t step between a call and obvious response.

Last year the FO I was flying with talked back. DEN CP monitors freq and called our CP. Got the VM. What can I say. If they hear what’s going on—and back her up—then they're more than okay with the mayhem and delays. Ops add 500 lbs and sit there with engines and pay meter running. You'll eventually be in someone’s way and she’ll call you.
There is no remedy other than being passive and enjoying watching the drama unfold. I’ve been DEN based off and on for 22 + years and am completely aware that it’s not a battle that can be won.
