Most recent base trade awards. Appears people did the sfo vacancy and assumed the risk. Worked out for them.

Seems to work out but you better be ready to commute to SFO for a while. When I think junior man I discount base trades. Their seniority didn’t get them the seat. Their willingness to gamble did.

9808 on staffing report. The code in right column is base trade.

9808 was hired in June of 13. So 6.5 years. Not exactly 3. Still pretty good for Denver Captain.

Effective April 2020 base trade shows an 11608 SFO CA trading with a DEN CA.

Good on the guy for getting the base trade. That being said, I can imagine a lot of awkward flights in the future where guys have been waiting a very long time to upgrade in Den and show up to find they have a 30 year old captain.

Doesn’t mean the CA is 30. I see new hires each month in their 50s.

Regardless, any FO that would be upset because they themselves didn’t take the chance and upgrade in SFO, then base trade back to DEN is, in my opinion, unjustified in feeling that way.

Whoever it was that took the upgrade in SFO and got a base trade back to DEN, gambled and got really lucky. Everyone out there with his seniority had the same opportunity.

Reminds me of my dogs, food falling out of their mouths, yet looking at what the other dog is eating.

One shouldn’t have to take a bid to SFO, run the risk of getting stuck commuting for years just to upgrade. That base trade takes what would have been a vacancy in an actual seniority based bid. A vacancy that would have go to someone who actually has the seniority to hold DEN captain.
