I watched it. I wouldn’t read too much into that. ALPA negotiations will be on going.

The company does not want to spend the cash to fund early retirements.

(Or at least that's the current posture.)

SK has been saying all along he see’s no value in early retirement options. Looks like it’s a dead issue...

He also said we need to be ready to quickly react when the market comes back and that certain work groups had unique training requirements that other work groups didn’t. I don’t think he wants to cede anything to other airlines while retraining recalled pilots. There will be pilot furloughs, but not as deep as first thought. Other work groups might cut pretty deep. Hold the line. Protect the UPA.

Yep, he got some inside info, which may include the age 68 rule change on October 1st. Just ask Tony Baloney.

Then again, he prolly thinks the SWA mgt. are a bunch of nit-wits, with the early out program announced today.
Extended time off:
55 tfp/mo for up to 5 years

Early retirement/separation:
67 tfp/mo for any eligible pilot 55 and over for up to 5 years.
company paid medical until age 65 for those over 55. (Edit, for up to 5 years max)

our monthly guarantee is 87-89/month.

$192k/year to retire early....wish I was a few years older!

But they have money to send us to training to put us in a lower paid category. Just remember this the next time the company wants something.
