ExpressJet RIP

United Airlines has entered into an agreement with CommutAir to be the sole operator of UAX EMB-145s and they will be terminating their contract with ExpressJet.

Sad day for our brothers and sisters #staystrong

How does an expressjet pilot remain competitive? Is flying required?

Since aviate dissolving will there be preferred hiring on rebound?

ALPA carriers give preferential interviews to distressed ALPA pilots. It will be a box you check on you app.

as a soon to be furloughed ALPA pilot, I have been trying VERY hard to get an interview with another ALPA carrier (yes, they are hiring)......and I’m met with TONS of resistance based on having recall rights with my current carrier. In fact, everywhere I’ve looked this is the case.

bring your experience up with ALPA national. I could be wrong But I think it’s in the bylaws.

I guess that’s one problem the XJT pilots won’t have when looking for jobs. 😕

No mainline carrier, or ALPA, has given a d@mn about distressed ALPA pilots (on a regional level).

He's precisely correct. ALPA doesn't give a sh!t, and the mainline @ssholes would rather get some no nothing, soy boy turd right out of school--so they could "train them up their way"

your experience means nothing to them.

There were several former Comair pilots in my new hire class at UA. Is it a perfect system no. To say it doesn’t happen is absolutely false. YMMV.

They have, maybe not recently but Air Wisconsin, hired a bunch of Independence Air guys when it went under and they also hired a bunch of Comair guys, when they were turfed out onto the street. It’s just that times have been so good for a while now, that most at the regionals haven’t been around long enough to remember

United also preferentially interviewed a lot of Westair (ALPA) guys and gals when it shut down.
