The opportunity to vote on a proposal? Yeah....I actually think I’m owed that. Nothing more than that, though. And that’s not a sense of entitlement that makes me feel owed....it’s payment of ALPA dues. You’re free to disagree, and I’m sure you will. I can live with that.

I go back and forth on this. I got the letter, but I’m way down at the bottom of the last group. If this trends like previous furloughs with VFs, I might just barely hang on until the 2021 furloughs. In my experience here, those captains I have flown with who barely hung on last time seem more bitter than those who were furloughed and then called back. BK, pay cuts, stagnation, commuting to reserve, crappy work rules, etc vs working another gig for 5-8 years. I guess there are positives and negatives on both sides to consider.

Right.....but there are resolutions for LEC meetings that specifically argue AGAINST a vote. So I guess there must be some concern about these “rumors”.

if we do see a proposal that might save your job but is voted down, who will you be angry at?

As far as I’m concerned, if we see a proposal and it doesn’t ratify, at least the system worked and I see many of us in the same unemployment line (so to speak)!!!

If the NC shoots down a proposal because it fails the sniff test, at least the system worked. If the company agrees to a proposal that does meet the standards given by the membership to the NC, then by all means, we vote. So far, the company hasn’t agreed to anything that meets the bar.

Even if the proposal is suppressed, anger isn’t really the way I handle this stuff. Maybe it reads that way, but the written word isn’t very good at transmitting emotion properly. I’ve already come a long way from how I originally felt about all this. I consider myself an adult.....and adults should be capable of adjusting their stance after considering the discussion from all sides. I am hopeful that there are options that we are allowed to vote on. If the options aren’t palatable to me, I will vote no. All I want is for all of us to get that opportunity. Not angry at all. Mostly resigned to my fate. When I come back.....I don’t want to talk about it. The subject is best left alone at that point.
