February 2014 Bonanza crash during takeoff from Telluride killed two United Captains. Departed rw 27 in light snow and only made it about half mile before crashing into a cliff.

Yeah. A trend. Whatever. Another trend is pushing the envelope in all sorts of activities in the name of getting the most spectacular video possible to wow everyone with on social media.

truly heartbreaking. I love GA but we get used to the redundancies of part 25 aircraft and I always have to remind myself in the Bonanza, this aint a boeing. It’s a good airplane, for what it is.

My mentality in piston GA is the same as on a motorcycle. Slightly more relaxed than parachuting and I don't even do that anymore.

Statistically speaking, isn’t GA flying roughly as dangerous as riding a motorcycle? I always cringe when I hear people convincing skittish fliers to hop in their clapped out 172 with the “you’re more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport!” line. The stats get way uglier when you get rid of 121/135 flying...

But just like motorcycles, there's a wide spectrum within GA and it has a LOT to do with what kind of bike you ride, what kind of riding you do and who you do it with.
Sunday morning cruise with the old lady up a deserted coast road on a harley =/= lane splitting in rush hour traffic on I-5 =/= alcohol soaked downtown street racing at 0300 on Saturday on a CBR.
