Guys & Gals..
This thread has NOTHING to do with the TA.
The reality is, we all live and deal with stress in our lives on a daily basis.
However-
Between CoVid 19 and the issues at work (Not just TA related), even our normal stressors have taken on a new meaning!
There are resources out there.. and I'm not taking about OldMako's boat, fishing and whiskey pics!
SOAR's is something we all pay for. But even if that isn't the route you need or take, recognize that these are crazy times and remember that you, me.. WE, are not alone..
Hang in there everyone~

That’s a fallacy that I strongly disagree with, to assert we’re not alone infers that we’re together. After seeing the outright disgust and contempt for one another expressed throughout the TA process, there’s no way we’re together. Our union’s process and latest outcome have done nothing to foster unity or bring the pilot group together.
Further, for a guy looking to stick a gun in his mouth (or have a cop do it for him) SOAR is just a bag of air, untrained pilots trying to talk a guy off the ledge is a joke and possibly deadly. The compassion and altruism is well placed and I don’t mean to diminish the passion that the volunteers bring, there’s no doubt they mean well. IMO, SOAR is an unfortunate casualty of a divided union, there are resources out there, but they’re not under the ALPA umbrella,

For me, lets see- my neighbor lost his job of many many years, and a few others are in the same boat.
My mom of 88 yrs has had some issues recently and another friend and my fiance are having similar issues with their parents.
Speaking of my fiance, she's stuck in Canada again because we can't get our K1 Visa processed.. and we have a friend (fellow United pilot) in the same situation!
And then of course there's the TA issue and a majority of pilots have taken financial hits of which the 756 BES actually is taking it even greater.
So when I wrote "WE" it wasn't about this pilot group. It is about WE, the human race.. We as in We Americans. We as in our Friends, Family & Neighbors.
If you and WJ have an issue with my statement then so be it. Doesn't really matter anymore.. can't make everyone happy and maybe we shouldn't even try.
But for the record- it's hard for my neighbor to relate to my 50% pay cut when he just took a 100% pay cut!
It's hard for my other neighbor to relate to me and having to drive 38 miles (1.5hrs!)(One Way!!) to deal with an elderly parent when she see's me at home, on reserve and she is juggling two jobs and trying to find her time to deal with her mom.
At least SOAR brings pilots to the table (phone).. they get what WE have going on. And they are also a great tool to direct you other places if need be. Sometimes the best venue is a fellow pilot/aviator. But if your pilot friends are also going through stress.. maybe SOAR is an option.
And for the record.. I know SOAR pilots aren't "Paid" for their time. They are (great) Volunteers. But at some point, I would imagine they were through some sort of approved training that was sponsored/supported by the Union and probably (hopefully) involved a paid trip drop.
I don't see their job as "talking someone off the ledge".. there are other trained people to do that. But maybe they can offer an ear and some advice so said pilot doesn't even get on the ledge? Just my .02cents~
Stay Healthy & Safe out there
Always
