Since I don’t even know what fleet I’m going to end up on, I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.

I was in the same boat when I showed up for landings class. Don’t sweat it, cuz you don’t get paid to study on days off. They’ll get you up to speed—that’s tk’s job.

I don’t care about the FM until I get to TK, but dumping the FOM is also a problem. Required dispatch notifications, security section,..... all gone. There are just some things that we’re expected to know, and I’ve dumped most of it. Regardless of where and when I get back up to speed, it’s going to be a bunch of work.

take it for what it’s worth but the moment you step into that sim there’s only four options. Sat, Sat short cycle, Unsat and incomplete and you only get an incomplete if the sim breaks or you break. So you better be ready to go or you better be ready to go within 2 hours of stepping into that building.

If you need or want more time then you better start asking.

Since the merger i don't think they have handed out 1 unsat. Santa clause is everywhere in that building.

Agree about the sim. My point was about the book knowledge. But, as you alluded to, more sim time is available if one asks for it.

there were definitely different standards between the 2 airlines when we merged. 10 years later, we’ve punted the scabs, fixed the poor programs, and added better systems and FOM requirements to the footprints. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than it was.

i just wonder if there will be a significant number who have aged up to close to 65 who say it is just not worth it and just call it a day.
