eurpoe is easy for me but it is a little painful. No longer than a 3 hour nap then stay awake until atleast 8pm. Always slept great over night.

Asia would seem easy but I can’t seem to get over that 3am hump.....however Asia is easier coming home as you just stay up the rest of the day and go to bed normal.

I tried melatonin at home and it didn’t really do anything. I’ve never used any type of sleep aid at work, I just don’t have trouble sleeping. I also know what trips that I can do, and those that I can’t. I hurt for 3 days after going south, but Europe or NRT isn’t a problem. What works for me is to avoid booze, sleep through most of the layover, get some exercise, and eat healthy. When I get to the hotel in Europe I’m really tired and sleep is easy. What I have trouble with is domestic flying where one day you get in late and sleep in a little, and then have to force yourself to go to bed the next night because you have a very early van the next day.

Many don’t drink for a multitude of reasons and that is great. Yet you jump right to alcohol problems.

A bit slow on the uptake, yes. I've been on sabbatical from this place and loving every minute of it. All of the cars are washed, the boat's been waxed, etc. The shop is still a mess, but I'll get around to that eventually. I talk frequently with a buddy or three and keep up with MU but in only the most cursory sense. I miss many elements of moving the plane around but mostly I miss the overnights and the good dudes. The others, not at all. ;). It's not the airline we used to work for and a whole bunch of that is a shame. (Standby for acerbic rebuke from one of the usual suspects!)

Any updates on our parked fleets and when and where? I’m guessing that the 14 Max aircraft will be unpacked shortly if not already completed?

they are all in good year. They are being ferried to MCO for the updates then back to GYR. They will all be ready to fly the day we turn the plane back on.

What does this mean?

The vaccine was a joke meaning the software is being updated on these birds.

united took delivery of 2 737 Max the last couple weeks, 16 on the property now

FT update now says not to expect the Max10 until late 2023. With the A321xlr’s supposedly showing up in 2024, I wonder if that is when the 756 gets phased out. It’s also going to be interesting to see what happens to the UAX fleet. I’m thinking that Kirby was blowing smoke about the 50 seaters being a thing of the past. They seem fairly set against something like the A220 and the additional 175’s that they would allow, so I’m guessing that the United recovery plan is just to continue what we had. If that is the case, I’ll be buying tickets on Delta instead of the home team when we have to travel. To get to the places that I want to go on United means 2 legs on rj’s while a ticket on Delta means a mainline aircraft.

Thank your management for providing a better product. I could buy a ticket on United and enjoy a 2 hr flight on a E175 and then connect to a 2 hr flight on a CRJ 200, or I can spend the same money on the competition and ride on an A319 and a B717. It’s a pretty easy choice.

Both of your posts were very informative. Thank you very little. So what your saying is you can fly direct to a from any city on a mainline plane. Why do they even have Delta Connection? Lets see rando city pair, PWM-LGA-PIT. NOPE, no mainline! SO what's your point again?

My point is that the odds of having a comfortable ride domestically are greater on Delta than United, especially to the smaller markets. They have the A220, 175’s, and just a handful of 50 seaters left to cover their small markets. We have no mainline 100 seat aircraft, fewer 175’s, and almost 300 of the 50 seaters running around. I enjoy earning a paycheck from United, but for right now, I’ll spend my money on Delta. Same dollars and a better ride for where I want to go. I’d much rather support United, but if it means 2 hours on a 50 seat jet, I’ll support our competition.

Not to mention....the 50 seaters don’t have WiFi. How are you gonna post 20 times a day on APC with no WiFi?!

I think that SK is being honest with regard to the 50 seaters. Most of those airplanes are fairly old with a tremendous amount of cycles on each airframe. They’re not built like a 727. Also the lack of amenities like WiFi will help their egress out of our UAX fleet. Our customers have become accustomed to certain amenities and the 50 seaters don’t have that. Plus, they are constantly weight restricted.

I keep on holding out hope that Boeing discards the whole Guppious Maximus 10 idea. That’s about the dumbest idea ever with an airplane!!!

I keep hoping that we’ll convert the max 10 order to 787’s to replace the 767 fleet and just get a bunch of 321 NEO’s to replace the 757, especially since the max 10 is now 3 years out. As to the 50 seaters, I think that Kirby wants them gone, but he wants more 175’s without having to pay a price. He can replace that lift by either adding a new NB type and getting more 175’s, or by increasing the current fleet with no additional rj’s, but he doesn’t like his available choices. All we need now is money to make the purchase in a world where we’re bleeding $20+ million per day.

The 200’s have a lot of life left in them. Problem is airlines didn’t want to pay for one of the later heavy checks that was assumed to be cost prohibitive. AW scrapped a few then sent one to the check as a test. Ended up way under cost, that plane ended up back on the line. Not sure if WiFi is a technical issue on the plane or just the fact that no one wanted to pay for the install.

I’m not saying they’ll still be around in 3 years but there’s no imminent reason they have to go. They still make sense on short routes for frequency unless embraer delivers a next gen turboprop and a good media campaign.
